Green Wednesday, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, is one of the biggest sales days of the year for dispensaries. In 2026, it falls on November 25, and the operators who win it are the ones who start planning well before the doors open.
To find out what that planning looks like, we brought together a panel of cannabis retail and marketing leaders. Moderated by Jay Rosenthal of Cultivated Media, the panel featured Bryan Lloyd (Skymint), Elliott Rothman (Sweed), and Travis Scadron (Surfside). Here’s a preview of what they covered.

Look Back a Year and a Month
Last year’s Green Wednesday is your best guide to peak hours, staffing needs, the promotions that worked, and how much business to expect. But cannabis inventory changes fast, so the panel recommended pairing that view with product and inventory trends from the last month or so — that way you know what to stock and which product categories to lean into.
Know Which Green Wednesday Shoppers Are Coming to Your Store
Not every dispensary sees the same Green Wednesday customer. Border towns see an influx of out-of-town shoppers passing through to visit family and friends. Some are stocking up while they’re in a legal state. Others are stocking up before heading somewhere cannabis isn’t legal, whether for themselves, for their parents and grandparents, or for the cousin walk.
Bigger cities tend to see their regulars stocking up for any reason. As one panelist put it, he once ran an ad that simply put, “Do you have in-laws? We have weed.”
Think Bigger Than One Day
Green Wednesday is more than a single sales day. The panel stressed capitalizing on the entire week leading up to it and the months that follow. Bryan Lloyd, VP of Retail at Skymint, shared that his team runs Green Wednesday promotions every day the week before to catch shoppers stocking up early, and the week after for people getting together to watch sports and relax with friends and family.
